Dear FPCA family,
This Sunday we gather on Transfiguration Sunday, one of the liminal days between seasons in the church calendar. In one story, we are met with the revelation of Jesus’ connection to God and the first deliberate movements toward his passion in Jerusalem, looking back to Epiphany and forward to Lent at the same time. Maybe like the disciple Peter, we struggle with the suffering that Jesus talks about, or the suffering in our world, or not understanding what the future will bring. But the light the reveals that depths of human sin that leads to the crucifixion is also the light that reveals the glory of God alive in Christ. And with the light comes a voice saying, “This is my beloved—listen to him.” And with the voice comes a touch. And with the touch comes the courage to face the uncertainty of what is next.
Whether you come seeking wonder, rest, or direction, you are welcome. May this Transfiguration Sunday help us glimpse God’s light—and carry it with us into the world.
Peace,

Lead Pastor
