Dear FPCA family,
This Sunday we are finishing up our summer series about Disputing with God. Our final story is from Mark’s gospel, the story of Jesus and his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane between their final supper together and Jesus’ arrest. There are at least two disputes taking place in this text, one between Jesus and the Father, which challenges our understanding of the unity in the Trinity, and another between Jesus and his disciples who can’t quite figure out how to stay awake on what might be the most important night of his life. It is uncommon for us to consider this story outside of Holy Week, so it’s interesting to think and pray about other aspects and dynamics of what is taking place. How do we know when something is God’s will? In what ways do we sleep on what Jesus thinks is important? I’m looking forward to doing just that when we are together in worship this Sunday.
Peace,

Lead Pastor
