Dear FPCA family,
Last Sunday we observed the final worship of the Christian year, Reign of Christ Sunday, which means this coming Sunday we celebrate the beginning of Advent. Advent is a season marked by a time of preparation for and reflection on the coming of Jesus – his birth, his presence in our lives, and his future return when the kingdom of God will be fully realized. This year our Advent them will be guided by the question “What do you fear?”. We’ll learn about the scary time into which Jesus was born and how the angels spoke words of hope to those who were part of the story in order to offer an additional truth in difficult times. We’ll hear their responses and ponder our own as we move through this holy season.
Between now and Sunday, of course, many of us will also celebrate Thanksgiving. My prayer is that in this week and every week we will know God’s love and be thankful.
