Dear FPCA family,

This Sunday we’re going to start a new sermon series that will span the next 7 weeks of the summer. “Disputing with God” will learn from stories from the Old and New Testaments in which people enter into dispute with God, whether to protest God’s judgment, appeal to God’s mercy, or accuse God of wrongdoing. What emerges is a complex dynamic between humans and God, who learn to dispute with one another while remaining deeply committed to their ongoing relationship. We will start the series with the story of the Israelites growing impatient and building the Golden Calf, Moses intervening when God’s anger flared, and Moses reacting out of his own disappointment. There’s a lot to explore in this familiar story with details we might not all remember!
